Introduction to Paddle Tennis
In conjunction with the Hanover and Norwich Rec Departments, Mason Astley will be conducting a 4 week Introduction to paddle program, starting September 15th. This program is geared towards beginners and those that want to improve their skills.
Fee, paid to either Rec Department is $160. You can register at the Rec Department web site in the above flyer. |
Mason Astley grew up in Worcester, MA and Concord, NH and has been an avid tennis player for over 40 years. He played team tennis at St. Paul's School and at Swarthmore College, where he also scored for the soccer team against Haverford. After college, Mason found a love for teaching through the Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis Center in Philadelphia, and continued teaching at clubs, such as The Mount Auburn Club, until earning a Master's in Sport Psychology in 2008.
From there, he began a new chapter as a college tennis coach, heading the men's and women's programs at Emerson college for 3 years before taking an Assistant Coach role at MIT for most of the next ten years. At MIT, Mason was part of a team that went to the Division III National Final Eight three times, and he had the amazing opportunity to work with incredible student athletes, five of which were named All-American. He also spent a year at Harvard as an assistant coach. In 2020, his family found relief from the pandemic in Quechee, and decided they didn't want to go back to the city life. They have since settled in Hanover. Mason first played paddle in 2021, and now competes regularly in tournaments, and has his teaching certification through the Professional Paddle Tennis Registry. He teaches tennis and paddle in Quechee, and focuses on paddle at the NRC. He also consults with a variety of athletes in matters of Sport Psychology through his company The Mental Half. |

Tammy will continue to bring her skill, enthusiasm and love of the game to programming on Tuesday afternoons and Saturday mornings through mid-October. Watch for Tammy's weekly emails that will detail her weekly offerings and sign-up instructions. Programming will begin on Saturday, September 5.

Tammy is a seasoned educator and tennis professional who is well known throughout the Upper Valley tennis community for her passion for helping people grow through sport and movement. She teaches Physical Education and Health at Crossroads Academy and brings decades of experience as a coach, Director of Tennis, USTA Coordinator, and Tournament Director, working with players of all ages and levels. She currently coordinates the Upper Valley Summer Tennis League, overseeing 30 regional teams, and has led numerous USTA teams to district, sectional, and national success.

Tammy will be conducting clinics and private lessons on Thursdays beginning June 18th.
